| Cash awards for excellence in reporting on transatlantic issues are presented annually by the RIAS BERLIN COMMISSION, with prizes in the three categories: Radio, TV and New Media. Eligible are all kinds of reports on German topics aired in the U.S. or on U.S. topics aired in Germany or all other local, national or international stories of mutual interest, be it on politics, economics, security, social issues, culture or current events and developments.
Especially welcome are entries by RIAS Fellows
(former program participants) for whom a new award category has been created!
RADIO AND TV AWARDS 2012
Entries must be radio or television stories aired in 2011 and may be single stories or multi-part series. There is no length requirement. All entries must be submitted on CD or DVD and labeled with the applicant’s name and telephone number.
Entries must include
- your name, title, business address, phone, fax and e-mail
- air date(s) of your story and its running length
- title and a brief description of your story
- a brief description of your role in the production of the story
NEW MEDIA AWARDS 2012
for the creative use of the new information technology on relevant German
or American topics posted in 2011.
Entry details:
- Entries must be submitted in the form of printed samples from functioning
websites. Entries may, in addition, be submitted on a disc.
- Accurate web addresses leading to the website(s) must be transmitted
both in print and by e-mail to the RIAS BERLIN COMMISSION.
- Entered websites must be active and accessible by the jury at the
time of judging, but changes made to the sites after the submission
deadline will not be considered by the jury.
- Web productions must use commonly available technologies (not proprietary
ones which limit access).
Entries must include your name, title, business address, phone, fax and
e-mail and a brief description of your entry and your role in it.
DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2012
Entries must be received at RIAS BERLIN COMMISSION, Berlin or at RTDNF,
Washington, DC, no later than January 31, 2012. All entry material becomes
the property of the RIAS BERLIN COMMISSION and RTDNF and cannot be returned.
All work submitted must be the primary effort of the person or persons
making the entry.
AWARDS CEREMONY
The awards ceremony will be held in Berlin in the spring of 2012. Qualified
expenses (travel and hotel) will be paid for each award winner attending
the ceremony in Berlin.
